Medical Sciences (Pass), BSc
The 3-year Bachelor of Science-Medical Sciences (Pass) degree is based on the initial 3 years of the 4-year BSc Medical Sciences Honours degree. It offers students the opportunity to pursue an abbreviated, multidisciplinary curricular program in Health Sciences with a strong foundation in medical and basic sciences. The program has the required number of science courses to satisfy requirements for a BSc degree, meeting student demand for a 3-
year Science degree option. It will be available to: 1) students who want to complete a BSc degree in the Health Sciences but have been removed from other programs due to academic challenges with one or more mandated components of that degree; 2) students whose academic plans change during their undergraduate and wish to pursue a healthrelated degree in an abbreviated amount of time; 3) outstanding students who wish to ‘fast
track’ from a 4-year BSc Med Sci degree into a 3-year BSc degree to pursue a professional post-graduate program that does not require a 4-year degree, such as medicine; and 4) students who are interested in transferring from other Brock University programs into a Health Sciences BSc (as opposed to BA). This 3-year degree will contribute to student retention at Brock University by providing more students a way to gain a BSc degree related
to Health Science. It mirrors the 4-year BSc Med Sci degree and thus will allow students the flexibility to finish in either 3 or 4 years depending on their average and their personal choice.
