Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)

The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) is the largest institutional higher education membership organization in the United States, with approximately 3,000 degree-granting colleges and universities. A national advocate and institutional voice for promoting academic quality through accreditation, CHEA serves as a major voice for accreditation and quality assurance to the U.S. Congress and U.S. Department of Education, as well as the general public, opinion leaders, students and families.

CHEA also sustains an international division, the CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG), established in 2012, with a focus on international quality assurance. CIQG membership, in addition to CHEA institutional members, includes organizations and individuals from 45 countries. Guided by an Advisory Council made up of individuals from multiple countries that includes leading thinkers in international quality assurance, CIQG serves as a thought leader on international quality assurance issues and policy, a convener of academics and others engaged in international quality assurance and a forum for dialogue and deliberation on vital quality issues.

The Quality Council signed a Memorandum of Affiliation with CIQG on June 30, 2016. Click here for the Memorandum of Affiliation: OUCQA and CIQG

International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE)

The Quality Council has been a member of the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE) since April 2016.

INQAAHE is a global association that brings together over 300 organizations engaged in the theory and practice of quality assurance in higher education. It serves as a platform for members to exchange information, share good practices, and collaborate on quality assurance initiatives that span national and regional boundaries.

As a member, the Quality Council benefits from access to international resources, events, and discussions that support the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes in higher education, as well as to the opportunity to be intentionally recognized through a review against the benchmarks outlined in INQAAHE’s International Standards and Guidelines (ISG). See Review of the Quality Assurance Framework and Quality Council for more details.
