The Audit Committee reviews audit reports prepared by the Audit Teams and makes recommendations to the Quality Council accordingly.  The audit report describes whether the university has, since its last Cyclical Audit, acted in compliance with the provisions of its Institutional Quality Assurance Processes (IQAP).

The Audit Committee consists of a panel of auditors, two of whom are selected as Chair and Vice-Chair. The Executive Director, Quality Assurance, is a non-voting ex-officio member.

Members of the Audit Committee are nominated by the Ontario Council of Academic Vice-Presidents (OCAV) and subsequently appointed by the Quality Council for a three-year term. Members are eligible for reappointment.

Membership Requirements of the Audit Committee

• Must be senior academics who possess current experience in the development, delivery and quality assessment of both graduate and undergraduate programs (experience on Senate – or equivalent – or one of its major committees would be an asset)
• Must represent a range of academic disciplines (including at least one member from an accredited professional / health science program)
• Must include at least two individuals who are bilingual
• Cannot participate in the audit of their home institution and will be recused from the vote on their home institution’s Audit Report
• If an auditor is involved in an audit that is under review by the Audit Committee, he or she does not participate in making a recommendation to the Quality Council
• Cannot be voting members of the Quality Council

The Chair of the Committee is also a non-voting member of the Quality Council.
