Quality Assurance Framework

The Quality Assurance Framework (QAF) was originally developed by a special task force, which worked closely over a two-year period with the Ontario Council of Vice-Presidents Academic (OCAV). Other stakeholders, including the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities, were also consulted during the QAF’s development. The Framework was ultimately approved in 2010 by the Executive Heads of Ontario universities and a Quality Assurance Guide was subsequently developed to support the Framework. The Quality Assurance Framework was last updated in February 2019. The Guide is updated as new resources become available.

It is also mandated in Section 6.2 of the Framework that a review of the QAF and its application by the Ontario Universities Council on Quality Assurance (the Quality Council), its committees (Appraisal and Audit) and the Secretariat be undertaken once every eight years.
