Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership, MEERL

“Queen’s University’s Professional Master of Earth and Energy Resources Leadership (MEERL) is intended for early, to early-mid career professionals working in the energy and mineral resource sectors. The 20 month program will be offered mostly online with three residential periods of approximately a week’s duration and can be completed while the student remains employed. The program is bringing together faculty and industry leaders from a wide range of backgrounds to enhance integration across multiple fields within earth and natural resource management, including the geosciences, engineering, and the legal, policy, and business realms. Most aspects of developing and producing natural resources are becoming more complex with time. These include increased participation by stakeholder communities, concerns about potential environmental impacts, doing business in a global marketplace, incorporating new technology, and the imperative to effectively manage the entire life-cycle of resource development within the context of both sustainability and commercial viability. This new program is designed to equip participants with the leadership skills and broad, cross-disciplinary training to effectively make sound decisions and manage these trade-offs in the face of the uncertainty and complexity inherent in natural resource development.”
