Master of Animal Biosciences, MABS

The Master of Animal Biosciences (MABS) is a course-based master’s program that develops the focal core competency of graduates in leading-edge animal biosciences technologies and best management practices. During students’ first and second semesters, students acquire appropriate disciplinary training through courses in animal biosciences and in relevant statistical techniques. Harnessing the depth and breadth of the Department of Animal Biosciences, the program allows students to focus in one of five fields: Animal Behaviour and Welfare; Nutrition; Animal Breeding and Genetics; Physiology; and Digital Animal Analytics. The program is bracketed with experiences that promote students’ professional readiness: an initial course emphasizes professional development and scientific communication, and the final semester requires a culminating project that takes the form of either an internship or a major research paper.
