Instrumental Chemical Analysis, MICA
Trent University’s Master of Instrumental Chemical Analysis is a one-year degree program consisting of two terms of course work with practical elements and a third term internship. Graduates will gain a sound understanding of the theoretical underpinnings of modern mass spectrometric and chromatographic instruments, and will undertake real analyses and data work during an internship in the final term. Trent University is uniquely placed to develop and offer such a program, due to its Water Quality Centre which has been recognized as one of the world’s best facilities for analysis of a wide variety of elements and compounds, primarily of environmental concern. The program responds to the critical need for graduates who have a theoretical understanding of how modern instruments function and the skills to actually operate them. Graduates will pursue careers in a broad range of disciplines in commercial, industry, academic and government laboratories.
