Electrical Engineering, BEng
The proposed Electrical Engineering program at Guelph provides students with a foundation in electrical, electronic, and computer engineering, preparing them for careers in industries such as automation, biomedical, power/energy, manufacturing, robotics, and telecommunications. With both a 5-year co-op stream and a 4-year regular stream, students earn a Bachelor of Engineering degree. The program focuses on hands-on learning through integrated design courses, laboratories, and project-based experiences. The curriculum covers critical and emerging technologies, including semiconductors, power electronics, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, quantum computing, and cybersecurity, while also focusing on sustainability, energy efficiency, and renewable energy solutions. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, industry engagement, and research-driven innovation, graduates are equipped for professional engineering careers or further studies in specialized fields. The Electrical Engineering curriculum offers three Areas of Emphasis in Microelectronics and Smart Devices, Connected Systems and Automation, or Electromagnetics and Sustainable Energy, allowing students to tailor their education to their career goals.
