Conservation Biology, BSc
Conservation biology is the study of science behind conserving the world’s wildlife. In this program, students will study the decline of biological diversity to better understand the solutions to this worldwide crisis. Studying everything from lichens on a tree to elephants, students will learn about a variety of species and organisms. Students will investigate population dynamics and current threats and explore ways to preserve and protect the environment and its inhabitants. Topics of study will include: Ecology, Animal and Plant Diversity, Evolution, Organismal Biology and Behaviour, and Population Genetics. The degree is available as a BSc Honours with a placement in 4th year (4-yr program) or a co-op option (5-yr program). Through the program’s experiential learning opportunities, students will apply what they have learned in the classroom to the real world, working alongside leading organizations, agencies and researchers in the field of Conservation Biology.
