Biomedical Engineering, MEng, MASc, PhD
The Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering (MEng, MASc and PhD) prepares students for careers in biomedical engineering by providing advanced education and research opportunities with the aim of improving healthcare through the development of innovative medical technologies. This interdisciplinary program spans the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical & Industrial Engineering to provide distinctive focus on the development of healthcare devices and applications, including those from the emerging areas of digital healthcare, healthcare information and communications technology (ICT), and mobile/telemedicine. Within the program, students will have the opportunity to advance their own research, tap into Ryerson University’s leading faculty-based research, or work on industry-related projects. Students are also supported by a network of experienced faculty supervisors and will have educational opportunities at research hospitals, including St. Michael’s Hospital and the University Health Network. In addition, students can create, or be involved with, startup companies through joint ventures between Ryerson University and St. Michael’s Hospital that combine researcher expertise with state of the art labs, infrastructure, and commercialization activities. The Graduate Program in Biomedical Engineering supports student development in biomedical engineering R&D to meet demand for better medical devices, more sophisticated medical equipment, and improved biomedical procedures.
