Master of Sport Management, MSM

The proposed Master of Sport Management (MSM) program, housed within Brock’s Faculty of Applied Health Sciences and connected with the Goodman School of Business, will prepare graduate students from a range of undergraduate educational backgrounds to work in a variety of sport management-related professions, organizations, and services in managerial, service delivery, leadership, and facilitative roles. Individuals with backgrounds in sport management, business management, communications, and other related fields will be provided with a curriculum of required courses as well as a full credit Practicum to prepare them for work and leadership roles in sport management-related settings that are increasingly focused on and/or encourage enhanced intelligence data-based decision making and strategic development. The MSM program will provide students with the practical and professional skills and knowledge for pursuing a wide scope of career possibilities in sport management. This practical, interdisciplinary graduate program is grounded in a holistic approach to enhanced sport management intelligence data-based decision making and strategic development, and has been designed to house a foundation of curriculum encompassing theory and application that is targeted towards the development of skills related to the demands of the industry. Students from a variety of academic backgrounds (e.g., BSM, BBA, BComm) will have the opportunity to enroll in the program, ultimately setting Brock University graduates apart from other candidates by preparing students to achieve sport management competencies required in the workforce now and in the future.
