Mechatronics Engineering, BEng

Mechatronics Engineering is a branch of engineering, focused on the design of computer-controlled electromechanical systems. It is an interdisciplinary branch of engineering at the intersection of Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering, as well as Computer Science. After graduating from high school, students can earn a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) Degree and an Engineering Technology Diploma, in Mechatronics Engineering, in four years. It will also provide a college transfer program, specifically designed for qualified engineering technologists.

Students will gain the skills to design intelligent machines, from electric vehicles to large-scale industrial robots. During the program, students will learn how to design systems that rely on mechanical elements, electrical power, sensing and control. They will have the opportunity to engage in heads-in experimental learning through lab work, projects, and co-op practice that involve designing and building mechatronics components and systems.

At Lakehead Engineering we believe integrated and sustainable technology design is critical for protecting the environment and improving the well-being of people and society. Thus our BEng Mechatronics Engineering program has been designed to prepare students to create technologies that support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). With sustainability at its core, this unique program integrates business, law, and public safety.
