Master of Applied Gerontology, MAG

The Master of Applied Gerontology (MAG) program provides students with the clinical and professional skills and knowledge for pursuing a wide scope of career possibilities in gerontology. This twelve-month, course based, interdisciplinary graduate program is grounded in a holistic approach to aging, health and well-being and has been designed to allow flexibility to personalize a curriculum of theory and application best suited to each student’s unique needs related to their career goals. Specifically, the MAG program is organized around key pillars of gerontological best practice knowledge and skills related to social, psychological, cultural, biological and cognitive aspects of aging, with a focus on both physical and mental health. Students from a variety of academic backgrounds including health sciences, public health, kinesiology, psychology, recreation, nursing, allied health professions and other related fields are provided with an array of required and elective courses as well as a full-credit field practicum to prepare them for work in programming, administrative and leadership roles in a variety of gerontology-related settings.
