Environmental Geoscience, BSc Honours

The BSc Honours in Environmental Geoscience integrates the disciplines of geology, biology, chemistry and geography to study the interaction between human activities and earth systems. The proposed program will strengthen Trent’s reputation for excellence in teaching and research in Interdisciplinary Environmental Science and will be housed in the recently established Trent School of the Environment (TSE). In Canada, professional accreditation is a legal requirement for individuals working in the field of geoscience and the curriculum of this program has been carefully designed to satisfy the ‘minimum knowledge requirements’ of the ‘Environmental Geoscience’ stream identified by Geoscientists Canada (https://geoscientistscanada.ca). Students will receive strong foundational training in geoscience, and develop breadth of knowledge in the other sciences. Students will further their knowledge and experience with a capstone experiential learning opportunity in fourth year, and a compulsory field course will provide opportunities to apply and master geoscience techniques.
