La Majeure en Cinémas du Monde permettra aux étudiants d’appréhender de façon critique et théorique différents cinémas nationaux. La structure du programme repose sur trois blocs complémentaires et interreliés:histoire, théorie et analyse ; cinémas du monde ; et genre et intermédialités. Les étudiants pourront ainsi se familiariser avec une perspective comparatiste portant sur les thématiques et les traits esthétiques propres à divers cinémas du monde ainsi qu’améliorer leurs connaissances sur les relations entre le cinéma et d’autres formes d’art, les différents genres cinématographiques et les approches genrées (gender studies) et leur actualisation dans divers cinémas du monde.

 The Major in World Cinemas will allow students to take a critical and theoretical approach to the study of world cinemas. The structure of the program relies on three complementary and interrelated streams of study: history, theory and analysis; world cinemas; and genre and intermediality. This structure will allow students to become familiar with a comparative perspective on themes and aesthetic features unique to world cinemas. As well, students will learn about the relationship between different art forms, different film genres and gendered approaches to film, and how these are enacted in various world cinemas.
